Seventh Triennial Gathering 2008 - Challenge

Dear presidents and triennial gathering promoters,

The gathering is less than 90 days away, and we’re hard at work here in the churchwide office putting the finishing touches on all our programming. We’re making sure everyone who comes to Salt Lake City will indeed return home refreshed, inspired, and connected.

We are grateful for your partnership and everything you have done to invite the women in your synods to attend the triennial gathering. Our numbers so far are encouraging and reflect your hard work: 1,793 people have registered.

Our goal for the gathering has been 2,500 registrants. That goal was set in part because it takes the income from this number of registrations to cover all the expenses associated with putting on an event like ours. Speakers, workshop leaders, convention center rental, staging and lighting (and their crews) … a lot goes into putting it all together.

So we would like to pose a challenge to you that will both help us achieve our goal of 2,500 participants and also give your synodical organization something of value in return.

If 15 or more people from your synod register for the gathering between now and June 15, the churchwide office will, at no cost to you, send a staff member to your synodical women’s convention or other event to present one of our programs in 2009 or 2010.

What program? Whatever you choose: it could be the newly revised Paths to Wholeness, I Am She, or a workshop or presentation on whatever you would like us to do for you.

Need more incentive? If the above challenge is met, we will also:

● give a $50 gift certificate to Augsburg Fortress to the SWO president
● give a $50 gift certificate to Augsburg Fortress to the triennial gathering promoter

So there’s something in it for your SWO, and for you too.

How will we know if 15 women from your synod have registered? We’ll know by their registration form, on which they can indicate their region and synod, or we will place them based on their ZIP codes.

Below is a list of people from your synod who have registered for the gathering as of April 11. If you know of anyone who said she was interested in coming and you don’t see her name here, this is a great time to follow up with her and remind her to send in her registration.

We hope this provides some incentive to make a strong final push for the gathering. And again, we truly appreciate your partnership in making this a successful event that will refresh and renew all who “Come to the Waters.”
